I know I should buy a marine or deep cycle battery to use for a second battery or house battery. I dont have a lot of money so what if I stopped by the junk yard and bought a used regular starting battery to connect my inverter up to. I will be charging with a regular car 2/10/50 amp charger probably on 10 amp setting at my job. Could this work. I live in my camper so I will be using it a lot.

Should you ever make it to a place like Slab City where Solar Mike's shop is at, or at the very least a place where full timers frequent like Quartzsite. You can buy used/good as new equipment at a much lower cost. Many of the well to do full timers blow money replacing their gear just to have the latest and greatest.

If you have a budget battery store in your area, check with them. I bought a deep cycle battery (120 AH) that was a factory second for 45.00. It has the same warranty. Ive been using it for 2 years now and is still going strong. I bought it for an electric trolling motor and now use it in my truck.

I must think im still living in the old days. I stopped at
the junk yard and they want $35.00 plus $10.00 core charge for a used battery. Thats $45.00 for a junk yard battery. So I didnt buy it. Nothing is cheap I thought it would be about $10.00 total.

It's used to be around $15 around here. You can check the sticker and see when the battery was manufactured. I wouldn't pay more than $25 for 2YO or newer battery. Older than that, it doesn't worth it.

dont forget new and used golf cart sellers with a service dept., they sell good used 6V and 12V batteries for cheap... Golfers like to change out year old batteries in the Spring for new ones, bad or not... Golf cart batteries are really what a van-dweller wants to have...
