Is Boondockers Welcome Legit

It looks like a good concept, tho im worried that they plan to charge a membership fee in the future (free now looks like).&nbsp; Has anyone tried this out yet or is a member?<br /><br />http://www.boondockerswelcome.com

Looks like an interesting idea. &nbsp;It seems the goal is very similar to Couchsurfing.org for general travelers or warmshowers.org for bicycle tourists. &nbsp;The challenge is security; going both ways. &nbsp;The benefit to the host seems to be the idea of meeting new folks who have interesting experiences to share. &nbsp;If they charge a fee, new "freebie" sites show up. &nbsp;IMO, donations, advertising and sponsors seem to make more sense for this business model.

I went ahead and signed up, might as well vet it myself.&nbsp; I have a driveway i don't mind sharing at night.&nbsp; For security, if they want to stay they shouldnt mind giving me a license number/basic info just like a motel would ask. Neighbor is about 150 feet off too.

&nbsp;I signed up a few weeks but we fulltime so we can't host. We got a nice welcome email from the host. We haven't tried it out yet but it seems like a great idea.

It looks like you can leave a sort of review for the site and for the boondocker, that is a good idea.&nbsp; Sorta an ebay rating type deal going on.

<p>I joined early on to be able to host and use it for boondocking. I have no fees to pay ever since I was one of ther newer members.<br />I would probably consider paying to join if I had to. It cost to run a site like that, just like it costs to run cheaprvling, which reminds me, I need to make a donation to Bob's site here.</p>

If a true Boon-Docker you will never pay to stay... there is an awesome amount of free to stay on land now, ya just have to take advantage of it...

I think there may be many RVers that would not want to be as far off the beaten path as some of us need.&nbsp; You do not pay to stay, just for the service of finding a place in an area you need for a time.
