I just discovered a rather inexpensive water bottle for your van. At times I wonder how I overlooked this option of storing water in your van, truck, etc.

Most of us know where we can pick up one of those big blue bottles that sit on an office water cooler. Once in a while we find one that is being discarded. The next time you find one pick it up. I found one awhile ago and use it for storing 5 gallons of emergency water in my apartment. I'll be using it for water storage in my van when I hit the road.

I did a bit of research and found a neat hand pump that fits on a commercial 5-gallon water bottle. Some of them are rather inexpensive. I'll put a link to the cheapest one I found. Here's the link:

http://www.firstaidstore.com/produc...or 5 Gallon Water Bottle&utm_campaign=CSE

Just attach this hand pump to your commercial 5-gallon water bottle and you'll have 5-gallons of water at your disposal. This is a very good option for water storage.

Those jugs that fryer oil come in work great too. Just wash them good with real hot, soapy water a few times to get the oil out.

Most of them have a lid that is threaded in the center to turn a plastic spigot into. Just cut out the plastic plug and turn the spigot into it and Walla! Instant 5 gallon water jug!!

gus

Humm. That kinda neat. I have always just used the 7 gallon Coleman water containers that you can buy at Wally World (Walmart) for about 7-10 bucks with the water spigot on it. Its cheap, extremely compact, well shaped for easy storage, holds a couple of extra gallons and works like a champ!

I have a battery operated pump that fits in one of the blue water bottles, it has a spigot, just push the switch and water comes out.

I second the fryer oil jugs, I get these for free all the time and as stated just wash them with dawn and hot water and you gotta great water container and did I mention it was free jus 4 asking. I like free and repurposed at that.

That's a Wicked COOL idea Pikachu.
-Bruce
