The PD9245 chassis ground is to basically ground the AC side of things to the DC ground.

You can just run the PD outputs right to the battery terminals without issue, but technically the  dedicated grounding LUG should go to the Chassis, as well as the third prong on the AC side of things.

Grounding the casing of the PD should reduce some electrical noise too.

I am nowhere near as familiar with the AC side of things as I am DC.  I think there are a few NEC certified electricians  here who can give a better explanation of the need/requirement for grounding the casing of the PD to the Chassis.

So I thought I would let folks know that I have a functional setup. It is getting us by, with no real complaints yet. This is a picture of the madness   The inverter doesn't feed back into the AC distribution box because it was easier this way and we try not to use it (blue box on the lower right). Everything hitting the battery has online fuses. I put in a separate circuit for the converter so it is easy to turn off. At this point, I also have the solar charge controller hooked up. It is a mess, but it works. Thanks everyone!

com'on that's not a mess, mine is a mess because it has been done here and there for 30 years. when I put my motor in I will rewire the whole thing. highdesertranger
