Well I think I got a great deal.
2005 Ford ambulance deisel 174000 miles fully equipped all the lights and sirens $8000.
Get it home next week hopefullyjust have to find insurance and paperwork to get home..
The plane is to sell off the emergency equipment so offset the cost.
So much closer to the road!

Yes, looks like a great deal. I drive a 2005 Ford Taurus and have no problems with it except a starter replacement in the almost-two years since I got it.

I hate to break this to you but that is the infamous Ford 6.0 diesel. I would sell it immediately or plan to spend 10k to make it reliable. sorry to bring the bad news. highdesertranger

Already talked to a friend that's a mechanic $4000 and he will address the head and EGR issues as well as others.
Been working on vehicles all my life.
This thing will be a bullet proof as possible before I go.

don't forget the oil cooler and add a coolant filter. I will say a prayer for you. seriously good luck. highdesertranger

Main concern is dependability of the vehicle!
If need be I'll replace the engine and delay my departure.
Not going to do this half assed!

wow, great pics.
good size also, will make a wonderful interior as you build on it! hope all goes well for you!

Looks like a great start! Whenever I second guess my rig I always come up w/ a 4x4 diesel Ambulance for a base. Not that everyone needs/wants 4x4. I'm beginning to believe a rear locker w/ good ground clearance would probably serve my needs just about as well.

Look forward to seeing your build.

Peace
Marcus

Gassers much cheaper to maintain than diesel.
