I am currently living in a large home out in farm country. I love to travel and go camping, so I may just do it "full time" when my dad passes and I am out on my own (yes, I'm one of those 30-somethings living in my dad's basement! LOL)
Living on a disability check limits my living choices, and I just dread the thought of being trapped in a noisy, crowded apartment community. Manufactured homes MIGHT be a good option, if I have enough funds at the time (gotta split the life insurance with my sister, and pay off some past medical debt before I got government aid).

Currently I own 4 cats, but I'll probably have to reduce that number to 1 or 2 later. I would LOVE to own a skunk! Wyoming allows skunks to be pets (Idaho used to, but as of 12/2010 changed the law *pout*), so I think I'd have my legal residency be there, but it would be great to be able to still stay in Utah most of the time to be near friends and family. I like travel, but I don't like being GONE too much

Anyhoo, I got distracted from scooping litter with the great idea "hey...how about an RV?!" - yeah, my mind wanders when diggin' for kitty 'treasure' LOL So I did a quick Google search for "living out of a motor home", not really expecting much. WOW! Great site as the first link!
I will look at the forums and website later, when I'm done with chores. Just figured I'd hurry and introduce myself before anything else.

- Vivy
Hi Vivy. You've found a great place for info, advice, and generally all around nice people.

Thanks for the warm greets, everybody!

Dragonfly - Maybe! LOL

When I do get out on my own, I have to keep at least 1. As stated on the RV Living website, living by yourself can get lonely. I am weird, and LIKE being alone...from humans. However, if I didn't have my cats, I don't know if I'd survive! My doctor said he would write a note or something, for when I go somewhere, that I need a therapy animal. Many psychologist are amazed at how positive I am, despite all my health problems - it's because I have a constant companion that I can talk to, and won't be judgmental

Zinara is my "kitten" (now 2 years old) that I will keep. Xanthe is technically my ex-husband's, but his apartments won't let him have cats so I'm petsitting her...I'll give her to his parents if she's still alive when I move. Nebula I'll give back to the rescue group I got her from. Paizly I'll euthanize, as she's old and decrepit (already considering it now, actually)

And of course, if things go how I plan, I'll have a skunkie! If not, I want a bunny!

Welcome and hope you'll find what you're looking for!

Van.

Welcome. You will be able to live better I think in a van than you could in a house if you have a limited income. It's all about what you think you can handle yourself. Some couldn't go back to living in a house, others have found that they can't handle it, no one is the same. But most people are doing this because of the savings, compared to paying a mortgage and so on. It's good that you will have animals to keep you company. You just have to weigh the pros and cons and think about what you need to do to be happy. I used to travel all over the country on my motorcycle pulling a tiny teardrop trailer till the price of gas put me on hold. I would rather be outside riding and camping than doing anything else on this earth. Just think about what you want to do with your life and don't be afraid to go for it!
