Back to the tent for a while!!! New clutch/rear engine seal... you name it! There is and "easiness" to just pop up a camper though!!!

Ara and Spirit
Been looking at those Tentcots for a bit now. Was thinking of mounting one on my bike trailer (two wheel.. enclosed style) for possible bike touring. I know that they make a dedicated bike trailer/tent unit, but it weighs a ton and is expensive as all hell. What are your impressions of the Tentcot you're using (bk2valve)?
Wow Ara is it still drivable?
Take care!! Say hello to Spirit for me

Yes, it is... just deep mud it was as I took the wrong line!
Spirit says HI ! Have a nice Pawday...
Must take it to a car wash now... 60 miles from here!
Ara and Spirit

Glad this ended (relatively) well! Big Bend doesn't have much annual rainfall, but it tends to come all at once. I'd like to know more about your satellite phone. It can get mighty lonesome (nice... sigh...) out there.

Vickie

Hi Vickie...
A few years back when we arrived here I knew we would be spending much time in the area. Let's face it, millions of acres and not many people! No free camping around here, it is around $350 a month to be like a sardine can in an RV park. The limit in the Park itself is I think 14 days per year... yes, per year!
So instead I bought a little piece of land [The Oasis]. It was $150 an acre... With that you get Big Bend Telephone to trench a phone and Internet line [2 miles in my case for $10 installation / this might have changed by now] and you could also get a SAT Phone for $17 a month, 300 minutes, which I did and will never give up. It is a bargain... Can be used all over the World.
So that is the story... A good one.
Much land left, same price... keep in mind you need water and a bit of power which there is none here... Have a bit of solar, much Pecan wood from a Friend and a 40' shipping container tilted a bit for a 300G water catchment tank...
It is far from everything, we spend quite a bit of time here in the winter, it is Base Camp where we return after camping these 3 million acres!
Stay well... I recently contacted Ursa Minor Vehicles, the maker of the top on the Element e-camper. They also recently started doing a top for the 4 door Jeep Wrangler. Asked if they have plans for any other models and just got back a reply that by 2014 they plan to have a top for the new Ford Transit Connect. The TC will have a choice of two engines and one is a turbo charged 4 cylinder that will do 30+ mpg. It will come in both cargo and passenger versions.
