Hi All,

Been lurking on the site for a few weeks... what a great resource and community!

Just a brief intro, I'm located in Upstate NY... currently just at the southern end of the Adirondacks.  I've been contemplating my living situation for awhile, and looking for something that seems to fit.  And with all of your help I believe I've found it!  Last week I traded in my car for a 2016 Chevy Express Van... and now I'm getting ready to start outfitting it!  Don't have a solid plan yet, but definitely want to be on the road before hard winter comes again!

I just want to say thanks in advance for all of the information that is contained in these pages and posts... it really makes a difference when you can learn from other's trials and tribulations!  I hope as I go along that I'll be able to contribute as well and give back.

Cheers!

Todd.

Todd: I'm not one of the regular "welcomers" but as an NY ex-upstater want to say glad to have you part of the tribe! Congrats on your new van, and when you start your conversion please post some pictures. This is a wonderful bunch of folks here!

Hey Todd welcome aboard the posting side !
You've got a good start and I'm sure you know by now that you just need to ask if you can't figure something out or just need advice.

Keep us updated on your progress , ,,,, aw Speed ya beat me to it ! PICS , we like pics !

And nothing stopping anybody from being a regular welcome(r) nobody asked me to , I just do it !

Welcome to the CRVL Forum   :)

Man, your timing is perfect !   You'll have time to get insulation and get it installed before winter and opportunity to hit the week end yard sales and flea markets to find stuff to outfit with.   If you're going to winter over in a cold climate there are plenty here with experience in doing that.

Much will depend on how large you want to live in your rig.  Will you plan to join a Gym where you can clean up
each day or can you do that at work ?   Will you plan to have some small econo commuter car or pick up as a second vehicle ?  Or just use your one rig to do it all ?

You are welcome to look at my two sites below to see if there is any ideas that would  be helpful in them for you.

Given your location. might I suggest a NOAH Weather alert Radio that will alert you if a heavy snow is coming your way,  flash floods, or a big rain.  If it goes off in the night drive to work and pull in on the parking lot.  You
may be the only one that got to work in the storm. LOL  (while all the others call off coming in to work)
No sense in getting stranded out in the boondocks.

Rain and Thunderstorms in the area today, so I sit in my apartment reading @Luisafernandes build out thread! https://vanlivingforum.com/Thread-2014-Chevy-Express-2500-Van-Build-Luisafernandes And in between following links to other sites and videos. I started looking at this one since it it the same as my van, only to discover I have been following his YouTube channel already!

I tend not to be too patient about things, but I'm trying to do my due diligence and get as much research in about building out the van before I get started.  I do have a lot of my stuff in the van now and will be camping out as much as I can to figure out what works and decide on a layout.  I have to say I would probably never thought of or considered doing this if it wasn't for these forums and the wealth of information here!  I promise to start a thread with pics and progress of my build.  I'm sure I will have many questions...  right now I'm making some lists about what will be essential, and what I think I'll need.  I'm sure I won't really know until I get out there!

Hi Welcome aboard. How are you liking the new Chevy so far? I keep almost going down to the Dealership and buying a new one. Not sure what keeps stopping me, I think I'm afraid of missing my 4WD. I had an 03 Express and did a bunch of traveling out of it and loved it. Cant wait to see what you do with it.
