Just wanted to say hello to everyone on here all the way from England ^^, found your site by watching a documentary about Slab city in the Colorado Desert. And I just wanted to ask whats the best way to visit e.g camping out in a tent etc?

But before I bore you anymore just want to say your site seems pretty awesome! ^^

As you are from England, when you visit the USA as a camper, you are required to travel in a gypsy-style vardo.

Welcome, and, absolutely as creation said, a Vardo, they are easy to find. The Gyspsy horse to pull it with may be a little problem. I'm sure Creation can set you up when you arrive in the states.
Dragonfly

Awesome thanks guys but I dunno about the Vardo thing >< would love to able to get a horse to pull though!

Also would like a hippie van to travel round in but no idea how much car hires are out their in the states ^^

"Never be scared your life is slipping away, be scared of never living it"

serious answer - rent a car. buy a tent and sleeping bag. Explore.

If your over here for over a month buy a van and sell it before you leave. Welcome aboard

Welcome!

I always wondered what it costs to rent an rv...1 week with 700 miles is around 1200 dollars...ouch

Rental car prices vary wildly here. We rented a car in fl near disney for a couple hundred for 5 days...but competition in that area drives down prices and the mileage was low (they didn't charge mileage if you didnt leave the area).

Id like to see that documentary, got a link?

welcome from s.w. florida .... blkjak

Yeah I think getting the sleeping bag and exploring sounds the best thing, renting a car to maybe just to travel between places. Thanks for all the answers ^^And unfortunately I do not have a link but will make sure to try and find it again and will post it as soon as possible ^^

Also top ten places to visit? Where would you guys advise to visit first? Hope all of you are well and life is treating you fairly ^^

Renting even a car will be expensive. How about buying a small used car and tent camping?

How long will you be here? There are so many great places to visit but there are miles (and tons of cool things to see) inbetween them.

My list of 10 - Washington DC
                      Yellowstone National Park
                      California coast
                      Southern Utah National Parks
                      Olympic National Park
                      Niagara Falls
                      Death Valley
                      Disney World
                      Las Vegas
                      Summer or winter RTR
