Hello, we are Jeff and Lynnette and we are going to be full time RVing as of September 1st 2019.

We learned about this forum from watching Bob's videos as we attempt to prepare for for full time living. We have always enjoyed camping and nature (always in a tent). We recently traded one of our vehicles for a 1981 22' Coachman that sits on a Chevy C30 frame.

I(Jeff) have recently had total hip replacement in both hips. Lynette is on disability and since March has been our only income. We could no longer afford to rent a stick and stone home and after long thought and a whole lot of soul searching decided to make an attempt at full time RVing.

We quickly realized that this is not going to be an easy task. We've joined the forum in order to gain as much knowledge from those of you who have the experience.

We welcome any tips and suggestions that will help us to successfully make this transition. Thanks for accepting us into the community and we looked forward to learning from and possibly meeting fellow full timers.

Welcome to the forum... it's great to have you join us.

Living on the road is real nice, but kinda expensive. $100 just won't get you very far these days.

Best wishes

Welcome to the CRVL forums Jeff and Lynnette! You'll find a lot of tips in the forum threads but please feel free to ask questions about anything and everything.

To help you learn the ins and outs of these forums, this "Tips, Tricks and Rules" post lists some helpful information to get you started.

Most of our rules boil down to two simple over-riding principles: 1) What you post should provide good information (like your introductory post), and 2) Any response to someone else's post should make them feel glad they are part of this forum community.

We look forward to hearing more from you.

Good luck my friends!!! Please keep us posted on your progress....I would love to hear all about it.

Jeff and Lynette, what are your first plans? Are you going to stay in your current area or head out? Around that time frame many of us are making our way west. A huge number are in and around Quartzsite.

You can stay around Quartzsite for free but must move every two weeks. I can’t remember how many miles you have to go but someone on here will.

Another option is to stay in the Long Term Visitors Areas (LTVA). There are several and you can switch around as much as you want.

You can pay $40 for two weeks or pay $180 for the whole season which lasts 7? Months. You will have access to water, restrooms, a dump station and garbage bins.

We don’t stay the whole time but do buy the season pass and take advantage of the perks.

At the LTVAs you can join lots of clubs and just about every hobby or interest is covered or you can just sit and watch the beautiful sunrises and sunsets and do nothing if that’s what you prefer.

I’ve been going for some years and have joined a few clubs and keep very active with them.

Mexico is only a couple of hours away where you can get medicine and have dental work done very cheaply.

Welcome to the forum

Almost forgot. At the LTVA La Posa South there is a large area for people who want to freeze their asses off. They have a large clubhouse, road names with markers and probably much more things and activities. I know they have dances.

If you are so inclined I understand that it’s a big deal and I think they have about a square mile of space marked out.

Their area is known as the “Magic Circle”. I’d much rather stick a needle in my eye than be nude and scare everybody so I really don’t know that much about the area.

The rest of La Posa South is not a clothing optional area.

Welcome to the forum

Thank you so much! This is exactly the kind of information we are looking for.

We plan on staying here in the desert southwest as summer is almost over. We talked about checking out the RTR which I believe is in February this year.

Once the weather breaks in spring we plan to head east and north a bit and by next winter we hope to land in Florida to visit family there.

P.S. we also will be avoiding the clothing optional site. Lol we've become considerably more modest the older we get!

Florida works if you have family to stay with. I don't think there is a lot in the way of free camping in Florida. It is a very popular place to spend the winter and it is already well populated by the East Coast folks heading south for the winter.

You are already in the desert? If you are going to head to quartzsite give me a shout.
