I have been a fan of Bob and the Nomad life for the last year. I'm retiring soon and looking for a van.  The search has not been easy, especially for a partial build out. I would love to find a Van preferably a Promaster. I will need to start out pretty basic and build as I go.  I hope to get to RTR with at least solar in hand and pay some one to install.  I look forward to getting out there!

Hello Rosie van Go. Welcome to the forum, I hope you find what you’re looking for. I’ve been wanting to get to the RTR for many years. Last year was the only year I could attend because it was virtual. Driving across country ain’t cheap. Keep looking up

Welcome to the CRVL forums RosieVango! Good luck with your search. Keep us updated!

To help you learn the ins and outs of these forums, this "Tips, Tricks and Rules" post lists some helpful information to get you started.

Most of our rules boil down to two simple over-riding principles: 1) What you post should provide good information (like your introductory post), and 2) Any response to someone else's post should make them feel glad they are part of this forum community.

We look forward to hearing more from you.

Hello! I have watched many videos of people who move in their vehicle with just camping equipment and build as they go. Keep us posted!!

Hi RosieVango! Welcome to the group! We are glad you are here. Yeah, Bob's great isn't he? What I have recently really enjoyed is the depth of this YouTube videos. He is comprehensive, tasteful, and sensible. He doesn't use fear, hype, or other methods to get ratings. He just does quality work and lets it speak for itself. He has really done a lot of homework and hits the major points. If you like to read, his blogs are really good also.

Wow! Thanks to all for your replies. I’m still figuring out how this site’s forum(s) works, so….
Anyway: emergency fund? Yes. Gear? Mostly but quite a few rig mods planned. Breaking away truly? It needs time because of my youngest son. Meanwhile….I’d still love to meet and hang out w some of you to learn the ropes. VA is incredible. Come on over! (Username note: “Phish” is my longtime nickname—my given is Philip n I am a water bug, so…when I say GonePhishin, it is a promise to myself to be who I want to be and live/roam as I will)

Hi Rosie, I'm not out there yet, but have a small truck I am planning to fix up with a teenie camper! I would love to be heading out in the upcoming Fall but have to see how things come together.

Glad you are here and I too watch Bob's videos, and his blog has tons of good info, as well as what you can get right here on the forum. Lots of nice people!

I bought my van! 1994 Chevy Astro 120k miles runs great 1 owner, I have most everything to start out and will add along the way. I’m super excited to make my first 4 day trip next month Any meetups for Labor Day?

Welcome Rosie, way to go on the van! You’ll enjoy it... an older vehicle works, just stay on top of any repairs. I had a similar van I bought from my dad. It was a great van. I’ll bet you make yours real nice. Enjoy!
