Mostly in my head
:) Hello all!
After 3 years of dreaming, researching, downsizing, planning and saving-I am getting my van this week!
I had to just do it already and stop the research. Also-I delayed a bit and because of that and other reasons (no tools or place to build) I bought one that has had a fair bit of conversion already. Its not exactly the way I would do it-but its not that far off either. I see it as a good first. This will determine for me if I want to do something different and/or continue full time.
Van is 2001 Ram 1500 with pretty low original miles. It has solar, bed, fridge, propane stove, storage, camp toilet, sink, shower head.
I am- a woman who is finished raising her children, working on the road is my usual circumstance-this will make it cheaper. Pacific Northwest has been my base.
Looking forward to reading and learning  a lot, as well as posting!

Welcome. It does sound like a good first. . All that is required is "good enough for now"

Welcome to the CRVL forums Permavan! Congratulations! We all love seeing different buildouts so please post photos if you have the time.

To help you learn the ins and outs of these forums, this "Tips, Tricks and Rules" post lists some helpful information to get you started.

Most of our rules boil down to two simple over-riding principles: 1) What you post should provide good information (like your introductory post), and 2) Any response to someone else's post should make them feel glad they are part of this forum community.

We look forward to hearing more from you.

Welcome to the forum. So glad to hear you're getting a van. I'm also a woman with adult children living in the Northwest - in North Idaho. I got my van last May and have been living in it since July.

Hi!
Ok, I figured out how to reply to a reply post to me to that person instead of in the general thread!
Thank you! Seems like we have things in common for sure. And as I thought that- I saw the quote you post with and remember liking it from a post you did on another thread!
I look forward to the friendships here, especially from women similar to me.
Getting excited....but for the first time-slight bit worried. Just because its different, thats all.
I actually will not be living in it FT until after my current job is over. But I will be going on smaller adventures. Which seems like a good way to start!
I hope I can find on here, somewhere, where you have told everyone about your set up. Very interested in how everyone else is doing it/build outs.

My van quite regrettably has no build except a nice floor. I look at other people's van builds and hope someday to get it together to do something like that. I'm hoping to buy a cargo trailer that already has insulation and solar and a few other upgrades. I could put my things in there while I'm insulating and paneling the van.

Welcome to the CRVL Forums    :)

Congratulations on acquiring your Van and making ready to live in it or work from it.

The bottom site in my signature line may be of some benefit for you.  I'm always trying
to add handy stuff to it as I find it.

Travelaround everybody has a different comfort level. If you are comfortable without building it out then just throw in a cot and go for it. You only have yourself to worry about. I really enjoy seeing the different builds. Some are super simple and some need big RVs but we all pretty much want the same thing and that’s to be “out there”. I’ve been thru quite a few RVs and just kept changing for various reasons. Don’t underestimate what makes you comfortable but that for some is a sleeping bag under the stars. You’ll find your sweet spot eventually.
