Ahoy Sea Witch !
Welcome aboard the good ship CRVL.
I've got salt water in me veins too , but think there's some lizard blood in there somewhere???? I love the desert lands in the southwest.
Boondocking up on the coast of Maine taking care (don't tell her I said that) of my 91 yo mom. So lots of sea here ! I wish I could talk her into going mobile instead of staying in one place. Jealous of you having parents that get it !

Good luck with the house and hope your new life on wheels gets launched soon.
You'll always be among friends here so ask about anything you like.

AND so glad you didn't choose Salty Sea Hag as your forum name !!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh My GOSHK !
Skuh kuh kuh kuh kuh

See ya out there!

"Funny thing happened to me on the way to the forum", I wanted to respond to marco68polo's post on looking for a mate upon starting the response I was flagged . Perhaps some homophobic BOT. Anyway Welcome aboard sure there are a lot of older salty guys in the lifestyle but ye can't pitch them into the same pond. If living in San Francisco has taught me anything in these last 60 years it would be tolerance, understanding and willingness to accept the strange and wonderful lifestyles we all are able to enjoy. So take your part and have a great time.

lterry....thanks! I am working on it!

rvpopeye....I may have been bit by the desert bug myself! I can't wait to see it. It looks beautiful!! I would still need to see the ocean from time to time though. That's my home in my heart <3 Maine is on my bucket list btw! I can't wait to get out there and see all of these places. Any suggestions on what to see and where to go in Maine? P.S. If mama wants to stay put, then let her be. As long as she is happy. It sounds like she has a great son to come visit and that would be there when she needs him ;-)

Wagoneer....you kinda lost me but I am sorry you were flagged for trying to reply to him. Everyone deserves love and happiness without judgement. I live and let live. Thanks for the welcome :)

View attachment 5186What to see in Maine.....HMMMMMMMMMMM

Most visitors head straight to Acadia NP and then rush right through to the Canadian Maratimes. Yeah Acadia is sorta OK. Not really any better than anywhere else on our coast though .

Now the best spot to experience the TRUE Maine. Hope you are able to do a little hiking. Mount Katahdin is it ! If you're in good hiking condition and want to see WOW go up via the mile long Knife Edge , at some points only a yard wide with dazzling drop offs on either side , I remember my trip that way like it was yesterday and it was almost 40 years ago.  I've finished the Appalachian Trail 4 times ,,,, never hiked the entire trail but finished it by climbing Katahdin !

Now , the best ocean coast experience ,, well I'll keep that a secret for now , locals don't usually share that spot with those from "away" . When any of you CRVLs are here , I'll spring with directions.

Lakes ?? almost all of them are perfect as long as you go far enough north.

Southern Maine has been spoiled by those that just have to come live in such a quaint place and then spend all their time and money changing everything to be like wherever they escaped from.......arrrrrrrrggggghhhhhhhhh.

Oh yeah , need to add.........don't come in winter unless you want to find out why I call it the east coast Alaska !

rvpopeye..... oh lordy.....you said "dazzling drop offs" and my fear of heights kicked in lol. I am a Fl gal after all. My biggest fear is driving on snow/ice and mountains with "dazzling drop offs". Whew! I am gonna really have to work on those if I want to see some places on my bucket list. Can I just hitch a ride with you and self medicate til we get there? LOL

You're gonna really lose it when you walk up to the edge of the Grand Canyon!
I forgot , the highest altitude in Florida is like 40' right?

The trick on snow and ice is to just drive S-L-O-W.

There are no roads up Mt. Katahdin so hitching a ride might be problematic......
BUT , there are LOTS of trails that are more like a easy walk in the woods , just don't get too close to the Moose (long story)!

Oh if it's hiking then I can do that. It's driving like a snail over mountains with a semi on my bumper that makes me need valium lol. I really want to see the Grand Canyon! On foot, I can handle it.

I know to beware of Moose/Meese because of course....Alaska is on the my ever growing Bucket List! My son dated a girl from Alaska she told us stories of Moose confrontations. So many dangers to face just so I get to say "I did it" lol. I am determined though and I shall conquer ;-)

Cool , you're going to do just fine .
Hope you love this life as much as I do .
Now , sell that sticks/bricks asap so your adventure can begin!

And while you wait ,,,,,,,post , post , post , learn as much as you can .

Vulnerable, and receptive thats what you are. Closed case you will be doing alright. Just jealous (guys are supposed to just take it.) in the next life I wanna be a woman.

Welcome to the life SaltySeaWitch. I doubt you'll find a friendlier or more helpful site anywhere else. I still consider myself to be a noobie and the people here are very much like family. I'd love to offer an opinion on the van/bus debate but to be honest my getting a bus was totally unplanned. Fate broadsided me with it and I have faith that some things are just meant to be. So I'll just go with it.

love your signature line btw

Thanks ainley53. Really looking forward to meeting folks in person from here. Everyone has been so helpful and patient with all of my questions.

As for the bus/van debate....hopefully fate intervenes and puts the one I am meant to have in my path like it did with you. Either way I will be happy as long as I can travel. Can't wait to see what you do with yours. So exciting!!

I like neat quotes/sayings. Thanks.
