Heighten just part of the top?

Do vans ever have just a segment  of the roof made taller? I tried searching, but couldn't find anything - maybe I'm  not using the right terms. Im not about to cut the entire roof off the van, but I think I'd be okay with a small area,  Then the next question would whether or not I could just put the roof vent/fan in the addition to the room.

Old VW camper vans used to have a small pop top about 3’x3’ in the open floor area by the side doors, directly behind the front seats as that would be the only area you could stand with the bed taking up the rest of the floor space.

I've seen old vans with popup sections like the pricey Sportsmobiles or VWs that had canvas sides.

I don't think I've ever seen a partial raised roof that was factory made. Just DIY add-ons.

That Astro high top is funny looking!

Are you talking about permanently raising a section or making it so it can raise & lower?
Either can be done but not w/o quite a bit of work.

Just raise. The top on that Astro is too big. I don't want a popup.
