so because of financial reasons i decided to take the plunge.
i got my eyes on a 2003 ford transit panel van.

its a decent van.. nothing special, it needs some love and small repairs i can do on my own.

but i have a few questions.

i live in the Netherlands.. winters can get pretty cold and Summers can be pretty humid, (nothing to extreme but uncomfortable) so i was wondering what the best kind of insulation is.

the cheapest option would be Styrofoam sheets, i could pick those up from any construction site for free.

the second option that comes to mind is, a insulation mat, used between concrete floors and carpet ect.
it is somewhat thicker than Styrofoam, but a bit more expensive.

3e option?? enlighten me

also can someone tell me if the bed from a volkswagon westfalia is comfortable?
i like the option to fold it into a bench and i can get one pretty cheap at a local junkyard.
it needs to be reupholstered, i hope it is something i can do on my own.

3e and final question for now.
would a second battery take allot of time to install?
and would i need to vent it one way or another?

Styrofoam gets my vote for being cheap (in your case free) and having a higher R-value than most other options.

The comfort of a Westfalia bed is subjective. Is there a way you coud try one out?

If you get a sealed Absorbed Glass Mat battery, you don't need to worry about venting. But they cost about twice as much as wet batteries. Is there room in your engine compartment for a second battery? If so, then that solves the venting problem.

We lived in a Westfalia for a year and thought that the bed was comfortable. It makes a pretty large bed and the fold up option is sweet.
