Update:  My husband has been dragging his feet about providing financial information.  It also appears from the communications passing between the lawyers that he has been misleading his lawyer, if not outright lying, about his availability for meetings to go over his financial status.  He thought he could call all the shots, and as long as he didn't go along with setting me up a temporary income he could keep me here.  My lawyer turned up the pressure.  If he gives me any more trouble, either more threats & tantrums or more jerking me around on money, my lawyer is going to have him removed from the house.  My daughter has provided a statement for the hearing, describing his verbally and mentally abusive behavior while she was living at home.  Yesterday he finally met with his lawyer and gave her his financial information.  We have a meeting next week to try to work out a settlement, and a hearing for temporary orders to establish me a temporary income so I can finally move out.  With any luck I may be able to start apartment hunting at the end of next week!

Well, that's good news! I'm glad your attorney refuses to play his games. Best wishes for moving along with your plans.

New update :  things are going much better than I expected, largely because through sheer dumb luck I hired the best divorce lawyer in town.  I'm getting temporary support plus a chunk up front, which has enabled me to get an apartment in Flagstaff.  Unfortunately I've only been able to move partly in, since I've been down with an infected tooth involving some of the worst pain I've ever experienced!  But I've got meds and an appointment in Los Algodones, so that should be all right soon.

The move to Flagstaff is temporary.  I expect to be there a year to a year and a half.  Boy, getting an apartment isn't like in the old days.  My lease was 20 pages!  And all the picky rules!  My last apartment was in 1979 when things were a lot simpler.  Life in a van or camper is looking really good right now!  With a year and a half to make decisions and plans, I expect I can come up with a rig and an income.  In the meantime, I've learned a lot from CRVL videos, tiny house videos, & the RTR about downsizing, simplifying, and organizing, so I know I can set up my teensy apartment where it will work for me and my son and my dogs.

P. S.  I'm 3/4 of the way to having my TESOL certificate!

Karla, I pray that things are still going better for you. So glad to hear that you have an apt. where at least now you can get some peace & quiet. Have you in my prayers.

Thank you.  I was sick as a dog for a while with an infected tooth, but three courses of antibiotics and a root canal in Los Algodones took care of it.  I car-camped at the casino in my 2011 CR-V for the three visits to the dentist.  In case anybody needs to know, the casino doesn't require a permit to camp on their lot anymore.  It's free.

My son moved in a couple of weeks ago.  We're both job hunting, and I think I've found something to make do with until I get my TESOL certificate in another few weeks.  Fingers crossed!  He has a year and a half to go at NAU, so I'll be in the apartment for that long anyway.

The ex has given me some friction, but on the whole things are going okay.  I'm still sorting through boxes and trying to weed out more.  I'm getting tough with myself about being such a packrat.  The car-camping was good practice for if I move to a van later on.    :)

Karla, I am so glad things are going a lot better for you! I'll keep you in my prayers.
