Finally found my future explorer! 1992 Dodge Ram B350 1ton hi-top. One owner, 60K miles, smooth shifting tranny matched to dependable 318, cold A/C, garage kept with zero frame rust and a couple spots of surface rust. I can't wait to get this project going! 1st thing, pull that handicap ramp out and gut the interior. I have so many plans and ideas and plenty of time to make it happen. I'm not hitting the road until summer 2018. I'm looking forward to sharing the conversion of this beast with all of you. Thanks already to many of you as I have been lurking in the shadows for some time reading these threads and sucking up knowledge. Anyways, life is good. 1st step in the epic journey which I have planned can now be checked off...van acquired. She was a steal at $2500 :)

Oh you...I was sitting there thinking "Please let it be $4500 or so"....Damn, you LUCKY!!!

I live in PA and drove 3hrs to WV just to look at this van. I knew when I saw the ad on craigslist that this was a rare beast.

It was a VA Rehab Van for 24 years. This makes me smile as I spent nearly 8 years on active duty and another 3 as a contractor to the Navy.

But what solidified the deal was the small world story when I first looked at the van. The guy who sold me the van purchased it at auction after hearing about the van from his best friend. His best friend drove the van for the past 10 years at the VA and told him about its condition. I got to meet the best friend and after talking with him, turns out he worked with my grandfather for 20+ years at the Herald Mail in Hagerstown, MD. Says they played softball together and drank after work (Grandpa passed 15yrs ago). In some strange way this craigslist van 3hrs from my home already had a connection to me. 6 deg shit in one or two moves :)

Very cool van. What's first on the list of things to do?

I've been looking at similar vans here in NC. Found one full of mold and didn't buy it. I sort of want the school bus door for the passenger side and no passenger seat.

PLEASE take some notes on removing the chair lift. Most of the ones I've seen have them and I will want it gone.

oh, and cool story bro.

(I'm originally from MD and have spent some time in Hagerstwon)
