Hello guys! I'm a french Quebecor who dream of living on the road of Canada!

I'm 24 years old, soon to be 25, and my idea of RVing is to go somewhere in canada, park for around 3-4 months, work a job that will be, in most case, around 11-12 dollars/hours and then move somewhere else.
I wonder, with my age and the jobs I may get, if really the life on the road is something I can achieve.

PS: I'm completly new to the idea of RVing by the way.

Thanks!

Thanks! It seems to be possible but not without some sacrifice.

Welcome Dorlok! We're glad you're here!

I think you have a very good plan. The one thing I'd add is to have an emergency fund, I generally recommend $3000 as a minimum, more is better. Maybe when you are working at a job be sure to stay long enough to build that up. That's not money to live on, it's only for an emergency. Once you have that built up then you build up money to live on for however long you want to go without working.

Have you considered what vehicle you want to travel in? Most of us find a van to be a good all-around choice. It doesn't do anything extremely well but it does everything reasonably well.

Thanks a lot guys for the informations!

I though about a caravan because I would still have a car to travel from my house to the job without problems.

Welcome to the CRVL forums Dorlok! If you have a vehicle now, I'd encourage you to test out the vandwelling lifestyle right now during weekends or whenever you can get away. Some folks here use their cars, minivans, full-size vans, as well as RV's. If you are like most of our forum members, you'll get hooked on it.

To help you learn the ins and outs of these forums, this "Tips & Tricks" post lists some helpful information to get you started.

We look forward to hearing more from you.

What kind of car should I get to travel with a Caravan?
I have a Toyota Corolla 2006 right now and I'm pretty sure it won't do the trick.

Salut dorlok,

I am also a "quebecois" and new to this site, I wish I had the "guts" to do that when I was your age...so, my advice to you, if you don't have anything holding you here.... just go ! take time to gather tips from members here on which vehicule to choose.
My personal advice is to have a conversion van (van salon) you have 5' 5'' height clearance inside, it'a lot better than always have to walk bending...

good luck

I don't think so...unless you have a camper on the rear, and don't mind getting outside the driver's side ...to get inside the camper
