Here is a quick view of a 12 foot wide, 7foot 6, 100 square foot home that unfolds from a 6'7'' tall 4' wide trailer. This may give some new ideas for your build.   http://camp365.com/

Very cool.

Look forward to a slide-on camper version.

Did you see the price?  Starts at $17,995 and that's the discounted price.  It is cool though, but I think an Aliner would suit me better.

I wonder what the fexible materials are an how they hold up after folding and unfolding.

I wonder how they hold up to the bears and mini bears (racoons).

Says no canvas so maybe at that price bullet proof carbon fiber or kevlar?

very cool. Innovative.
I like it for being a nice size after set up, reason I wouldn't get is cause it has to BE set up. Not easy to just pull in at truck stop and sleep easily. You have to build it to use it.

Wow... somebody put some thought into that design. Very cool!

The website clearly states what the construction materials are. No carbon fiber or Kevlar are listed.
The walls are a panelized, aluminum skins, composite foam insulation layer. Some  steel  included in the framing structure for reinforcement.

There's no canvas, but it is clearly made primarily of cloth tentage - possibly a durable rip-stop nylon like sunbrella uses. To me it's just a fancy tent with a hard wall for a door in front and possibly some hard sip inserts made of styrofoam sandwiched between thin aluminum panels (like my Aliner was made of) to keep it rigid and light. It is basically a high-tech pop-up with lots of room. I'm sure it has its uses, as a quick erecting mobile shelter for a base camp, expedition or such, but I don't think it's suitable for FT use.

If you are going to tow something, an old popup camper works the same way.
I have seen them sell real cheap.

I don't think anyone suggested buying one.

OP's "This may give some new ideas for your build"

is exactly right.

Learn how to DIY, and fixing any issues as they arise should be easy.

The ability to go full-width on the wheelbase on the highway trips, and then down to narrow-track for the off-road trails

is I believe a true innovation, right?

Always some criticism directed at my post. The idea has been around for a long long time.
Some travel trailers have pop out sections. Pop up roofs have been used for years on vans.
I think I will follow you around and make smart remarks.

Wow. How could you take anything here personal? 8-D

It's an open forum, whole point is exchanging ideas and opinions

Love the concept but not the price.
Interesting...would be cool to design your your own.
A-Liners are cool too.

A good sized bear would  pounce on the fabric and collapse the sides in on top of you.

yummy sandwich :p

Ingenius.

But - seems overly elaborate for the purpose to me. Camping is, well, camping. I like comfort as much as the next person, and I don't need to spend 20K to get it.

But I am intrigued by the zip-in insulation.
