Most of the state of Alaska is currently under a fire ban. Just about the only things allowed are gas grills.  And they are issuing pretty hefty fines for violations.

Thanks HDR.

I'm in the Eldorado forest (south of Tahoe forest) and no ban here yet. Rangers come through everyday though checking for campfires still burning after campers leave. I've talked with several and no mention of fire ban. But is good to know info that the bans are starting.

I’m not sure you could build a fire with lifeboat matches and gasoline outside right now here! Speaking of I need to go see if the water is over the bridge yet!

Related today and on my way down the road s new sign was put up. High Risk Fire Hazard. I'm guessing the campground I just left will be getting the Ranger visit to tell people no campfires.
So HDR your headsup was very timely.
