Okay my 2 cents on this one.

Why go with roof solar at all if that's all you want to charge?  A smart phone probably takes about 5 w?  Ditto the other items.  You can buy a portable, foldup backpacker's solar system that charges those items, and recharges in a few hours of sunlight for under $100.

Worry about the big solar later on when big advances in the technology are in place (coming to a Country near you soon!) imo.

I need something to run the fans, a LED light, plus the gadgets, oh and a Kindle. I don't have a USB port in my radio. I need some power but not megawatts.

ah. Well... I also have a double USB port that has a 12v plug (cigarette lighter, dash cam port whatever).

I personally just am really trying to go solar roof. I ca't get up there to clean them, I don't want the extra height, once attached you can't angle them so they really don't have full potential, if I hit a branch or run into hail they could be trashed. Nah just not for me. ;)

I have a quick question and didn't want to start another thread.

My mechanic said he would do some of the things I needed done to the van that I can't do. So, I'm going to have them install the Fantastic Fan. Only thing is, I only have 13 inches from the roof to beams on my carport.
How tall is the installed vent/fan in the closed position?

You should be fine!
No problem on just the fantastic and most vent covers I know of are less than that .
