FEMA trailers?

My aunt and uncle will let me park whatever I end up choosing to live in on their land, so I need something that's self-contained I suppose...<br /><br />Has anybody had any experience with these? If I could get one of these real cheap, then I could use it until I can afford something better.

I would inspect any Fema trailer thoroughly for roof leaks. I'll bet no roof maintenance has been done on these trailers since they were manufactured. It takes only a short time for a tiny roof leak to lead to rotten wood in the ceiling, walls and floor.

There is a lady on youtube that has been living in a fema trailer for awhile now and she did it up pretty nice. She has it in a park so I have no clue what would happen if she moved it LOL

Buddy of mine gets them from auto dealers auctions. They're not bad for the price in general. He uses them on a daily basis for a field office. Of course I think he gets them a bit cheaper than most people.

Most of the FEMA trailers do NOT have holding tanks.This makes them not self-contained.They have to be hooked up to a sewer or septic tank.

Living in South Louisiana I have been in my fair share of Fema trailers after Hurricane Katrina and from personal experience I would want one, no matter how cheap they are going for.&nbsp; They are of very cheap construction and not very comfortable at all.&nbsp; Also you do have the formaldehyde problems to deal with and they start falling apart pretty quickly (Mainly due to plumbing issues.&nbsp; You start getting water leaks which in turn causes rot.)&nbsp; Personally I find them to not be worth it, no matter how cheap you are getting it for.

Aside from the problems already mentioned, they lack windows and roof vents so are dark and poorly ventilated. I wouldn't want one for free.

i'd love to have a FEMA trailer, gut it, super insulate it,-solar all over a (NEW) roof,add a window or (2) if needed,paint it dark green/camo,,make a great bug out place in my woods,

We thought about getting a FEMA trailer, but the formaldehyde outgassing is really worrisome. I know that RV companies normally tell people that RVs aren't made for long-term use (because they all outgas,) but I recall that the FEMA trailers were rushed, the construction was shoddy and and they gassed more way more than normal.
