And we are done with the Thinsulate installation!
This was probably one of the easiest part of the conversion so far. :)
Easy Breezy!

Cheers!

Nice and clean installation, looking good.

Does your head always glow like that though? I can see it certainly being handy in some situations, but must make it tough getting to sleep...

We are going to do the "garage" in almost the exact same way, we have nearly the same van, same color, just a Transit 350HD with the 3.2 engine and windows all around. I came to the same conclusion about the 39 -40" bed height for the same reasons as well. Excellent!

Nice, is it a dual wheels?

If i had to start over, i would probably aim for 38" and gain some head space above the bed. But I aint gonna start over, never again (too much work), so 40" it will be. It's still very comfy with the High-Roof Transit :)

Do you have some pics??

Happy conversion!

You've really done an amazing job on your website build log...obviously one of you has some real expertise in that area. At the bottom of this page ( http://faroutride.com/ford-transit-camper-van/ ) that electric diagram with embedded product information when you hover is pretty awsome!

I'm currently in need of deciding bed platform height so I can make choices on surrounding cabinets...it seems that you have a height to top of mattress of about 44" ? How do you feel about that height as far as ease for entering/exiting the bed?

Brad, that's a little higher than kitchen counter height in an S&B which IIRC is about 36 to 38".

Try getting on an off that including lying down and sitting up. You might want to go luxury style a la a King's bed and have steps leading up to it.

I put my bed base fairly high at 24" so that one of my Whynter fridge units could sit under it. I have a rubbermaid step stool in front of it so that when I'm sitting on the bed my feet touch the  'ground'.

It's nice to have all that storage under the bed but if you don't have to have it for some special purpose, think about putting it at somewhere near normal bed height... particularly if you ever want to think about sharing that bed.... :D

It is a dually!  We have not started our conversion yet so we haven't been taking any pictures, but I took a few quick ones on an impromptu vacation test run recently in the bare van as a sort of shake down on the chassis before any modifications, I'll start a thread on it!

Thanks for the compliment about the website!

For now the van interior is incomplete, so we have to climb on "kitchen" countertop. We will eventually incorporate a single stair, somehow; probably a drawer that will act as a stair.

We don't mind at all "climbing" on the bed, but others might not be comfortable with it. Also, we can't really sit on the bed; we have to slightly crouch. But again, we don't mind; we will hang out in the front of the van anyway. We really wanted the bikes to be inside the van & to be easy to get in/out of the van.

Faroutride,

I went to your web page several times.   Each time all I get is a totally blank page.

I then entered just http://faroutside.com.

I got just blank page back then too

Huh?
I am using just an iPad...and iOS with safari

I think you got the address wrong! We are faroutRIDE, not faroutSIDE ;)

I just checked and the website is up and running:
http://faroutride.com/

No...I clicked on your link

The misspelling is because ipad keeps doing the autocorrect. Sometimes I just cannot force it to accept MY spelling instead.

It really is. Far out ride.

(I had to spell it out like that to avoid autocorrect)

What I get is a totally blank page. I can see that the web page is loading...but..nothing actually appears. Not even and error message.

Anyone else using iOS with safari? What is the result?

dang Far Out that's cool. were did you get those slides? that's a great price for 500lb slides. highdesertranger

Happy Thanksgiving to my American friends on this forum! (a day late…)
