What type of fabric is best for covering plywood platforms? I'm building out my Subaru Forester as a micro-camper. Something similar to what a stock rear deck would be covered in. Thin, durable, applied with spray adhesive and maybe staples?

What ever goes in needs to be able to come out to be cleaned. It is a real advantage to be able to remove them for cleaning or replacement. Nothing cleans up oil and strawberry maple syrup very well!

How about vinyl fabric? Cleans up easily and you can get it in everything from metal flake to reptile.

But to back up a bit, why fabric? Paint is easy.

Thin automotive or indoor outdooor carpeting. But first seal the plywood with some good marine quality paint. Rustoleum outdoor enamel will also do. If you want to make the carpet removable fasten it along the edges with flathead scews in countersunk finish washers. But unless you get the edges of the carpet bound to prevent unraveling you should consider using nonwoven carpeting as the edges can be cut but won't fray. Also that type tends to be thinner and lighter in weight. To clean it you can remove it, scrub and hose it off then lay it out in the sun to dry before reinstalling it. It is naturally stain resistant but of course some things stain more than others such as oil spills. Not so expensdive yhat you can't replave it every few years.

For the interior I'd consider using marine carpeting, as this is very hard wearing, waterproof and may be washed with a hose if necessary.

It's also nice for one's living space and it adds insulation.

Whilst marine carpeting may be more expensive than the cheap van lining fabrics on ebay, you won't be needing much of it.
