Great reports. Is it true the newer post 2011 5.7 Hemis have some cylinder deactivation technology like GM has for their 5.3? That could account for the better highway mileage. The new 8 speed trannies might as well as 7th and 8th are likely overdrive.

Sure makes my old 3 speed turbo hydramatic 400 antiquated. Vroom, vroom, vroooom, that was all you got for gears.

Like those sound effects?
 
I've had two E150's, one was a 1997 4.6l, the current one is a 2000 5.4l. Both were properly maintained, the 4.6l struggled here and there with hills which was kind of a thorn in my side. The 5.4l feels like it belongs in the van and doesn't hesitate when I need the power. The craziest thing is on paper they get the same gas mileage (13 city 18 highway). I've seen very little difference with my own estimates as well.
