IMG_0025.JPGIMG_0027.JPGIMG_0026.JPG Well, just finished wiring up my 12v scrap pile drills! It's amazing what people throw away. The batteries crap out and it ain't 18+v, so of to the dump they go. High dollar drills (Hilti and a Sears) in their day, and more than adequate for my mobile needs. In fact, they run even better, since the solar keeps my batteries topped up higher than the nominal 12v the drills originally operated at. So.. SCOOOOOOOORRE!! ..Willy.

Hey, nice reuse job. The batteries are way overpriced these days. Half the price of the drill sometimes. How about fuses?

The 12v 'extension cord' I use has a fuse in the bullet connector. Hard to find decent ones these days, since many of them have the current flowing through the compression spring at the tip.. STOOPID! Got a decent one off of a hooped inverter I found. ..Willy.

I've done this with many drills successfully. However the 14.4 makitas did not take to it. Perhaps I got the.polarity wrong..

currently I have a 9.6v panasonic with 10 feet of 10 awg and It requires a 40 amp fuse.

lots of torque. Way more than with the original battery.

I think it is criminal what they charge for replacement batteries.

Not having the heavy-ass battery on the end can make the drill easier to use, too.
