Back in the day, several of us van owners scoured the junk yards for old Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser station wagons. We cut the tops off and welded them to the tops of our vans after carefully cutting the hole in the top. It only gave maybe another 6" or so of height. Not really a big deal but it sure was cool looking.

Nice instructable. Very well done. Hard to do better than that. Did similar on my minivan but for storage only. Didn't cut the roof due to it being a unibody and time/ work required not worthwhile imho.

Should clarify, was not worth it for/ to me, my preferences, situation, rig. Worth it for a full size van of course.

That sounds awesome the reverse of chopping a top.

This is one I found.  Not mine of course.  Notice it really didn't add much height but dang if it wasn't cool looking and the sun visors inside just added to the effect.

hahahaha fish taxidermy and auto body. what a combination. highdesertranger

If someone would do that for me I'd rock it! I'd leave more of the roof in place on the sides and back for storage though.
