This is a cool little business I used to do with my Toyota minivan years ago.
I started delivering the Orlando Weekly which is a free weekly underground kind of a newspaper in Orlando and I contacted the publishers of all the other free pubs in the other boxes where I delivered.
Pretty soon I was delivering for about a half dozen different pubs. For a lot of them you had a couple of days to get them out so I was delivering a lot of them at the same time which turned out to be only a little more work and REALLY increased the pay.
Of all the things I've done this was one of the most pleasant. I never had to deal with any money or people and had a lot of freedom and it was just a lot of fun. Just drive around and plop my papers and books down or in the box. And a lot of the time I'd do it at night when there wasn't any traffic.
It paid really well too. I usually got around $200 per day for each publication and it's probably more now since gas has gone up so much.
I remember I used to make $420 every Wednesday for delivering the Weekly and another book.
Then when the local TREB (The Real Estate Book) guy wanted me to develop a route for him in Kissimee (where I already had a route) I just wrote down all the stops I already had and he paid me $1.50 per stop (about $450)
So if you're in a place that you think you'd like to do this kind of work just get a copy of all the free publications you can find and contact them to see if they have any routes open. And try to combine the deliveries
