I am currently planning to buy a camper shell from Belair ... (based on akrvbob's recommendation)  .. my problem is that I'm still working, and that since I live in Colorado, that's a pretty long drive ... and hard for me to schedule with work.

That scheduling issue is part of the reason I plan on resigning and hitting the road... live off of SSA and whatever I can barter ... but I digress...

Does anyone that lives in Colorado or neighboring states have knowledge of some camper shell dealer  of comparable quality ?

Thanks in advance for any help,

Pat

I don't know about the Bel-Air but a friend has a Leer. He likes it and uses it in all sorts of weather. I'm not sure if they have any dealers near you but it might be worth a glance. Rob

I just saw the Belair toppers. did not realize they were a mega dealer.

Thanks HDR, I may have misunderstood what the OP was asking. I stand corrected.

no problemo Gunny. I wasn't trying to correct you just let everyone know. in fact they used to carry even more brands. highdesertranger

What the OP was asking for was recommendations for a manufacturer that was closer to home.   I have till Jan 1 to come up with a camper for my truck...
If not one closer, then I will plan a trip to Garden Grove where Belair is located.

Thanks again for any help,

Pat

go to the manufactures web site and look for dealers. Leer, A.R.E., Snug Top, all have dealers in Colorado. highdesertranger

I've had Leer, Jason, ARE, and Century toppers over the years, they are all pretty much comparable. Some offer more bells and whistles like carpeted inside skins, better windows, more electrics. The only caveat I would offer is to make sure the entire thing is molded fiberglass, one manufacturer (sorry, can't remember who) was making the shell but attaching it to wood rails where the shell sits on the bed rail.

You will find prices higher than the Belair, but factor in the fuel cost to go to CA and it'll probably be a wash. And, if you have a common truck, you can most likely find a decent used one at many topper dealers.

none of them will be like the Bellaire shells that mimic truck campers, though

No, they won't, but the high top shells are pretty danged nice.
