As for painting the windows, if I had windows I wanted to block out I'd suggest painting them with Plasti-Dip, then if you change your mind or sell the van you'd have a light-tight paint job you could cleanly peel off of the glass in one sheet. On YouTube I see videos of people painting their whole vehicle with that stuff and then peeling the car like a giant banana. Cool.
Thanks for the input. My concern was more about the breakability of glass (either accident or crime) than the visual security or light-blocking. I guess it's just a matter of waiting until a good deal comes up on a windowless van; it's not like they're not out there to be found.
