I am in the early stages of my build out. I am emptying my house to put it on the market in the next few weeks. Parts and components are being ordered and daily scrounge on Craigslist happens with my cuppa every morning and mid afternoon.

My electrical needs are moderate to high, CPAP, 12v compressor fridge/freezer, plus the usual cell phone, laptop, lights, maybe some TV and a few cooking items for when I have full sun. I'm looking at 300-500 watts of solar on the roof with a comparable battery bank. Future expansion to include alternator/separator charge ability and a gasoline geni for emergencies. If and when I can manage all of that I would love to tac on a wind turbine.

I currently have a mobile emergency battery pack for my CPAP that can last for days that includes a battery tender and a 300watt PSW inverter. I have the hardware to run the CPAP on DC. I mention this because everyone always freaks out when someone mentions medical stuff. I'm covered. I'm good. This is about day to day.

Here's what I found.

Charge controller is the biggie. The inverters are nice I suppose and I already have the 300watt PSW so these might be nice to have for less picky electronics.

Solar GTI Charge Controler - details in the pictures in the ad.

Not taking the "Tie Converter" - that's to sell electric back to a utility company.

Charge controler and 425w Inverter + fuses and a bunch of wire for $120. He's also recommended a local place for 6v golf cart batteries. He's been doing solar installs for three years and converted to web design and is too busy to help me with the build, even for money.

It's a start! It gets me my minimum with minimum cost.

I'll check back in before I pull the trigger but I'm heading out to pick up a few other craigslist finds like a nice deep all steel bar sink for $25.

Personaly I think you are putting the cart before the horse.  Is that part what you really need?  Or is it something that sounds good, but you really dont have a clue about it?

Not much in the way of specifications.  Identification, or any information.
