The prickly pear's fattened up a bit around here with recent moisture and I'd been thinking about trying some cooked this way just for grins. I used a propane brush burner to get the tines off, chopped it and ran it through the blender.

Threw in a lot of seasoning, some black beans and a filet of frozen farm-fed Vietnamese fish I'm fond of. Added two eggs stirred as though they were for scrambling.

Brought it all to a boil and put it into the thermos. Just popped it open a little while ago to get an idea whether it would be fit to eat.

It's enough of a step in the right direction from tastee to cause me to think I'll begin eating it for breakfast.

Okay. It worked sufficiently well cajun to do whatever I do instead of recommending something but would if I were the sort of person to recommend things.

Next time, though, it's going to be chopped jalapeno and onion in there somewhere.
