Ok it has been a while since I have been on but I discovered something that I thought I would tell you about.
Here is one of those seen-on-TV products that actually works (look around you can find them at yard sales and second hand stores cheap, I have 2, both second hand.)

It is great for just one person, if you are not a big eater. If you need more space you can always use the lid on this

(this is the best link I could find) I bought a single white one for 4.99 at walmart.
The trick is the lid. So as long as you find a base that it fits, you can use that instead, if it is heat resistant. I also found a large-ish stoneware soup mug that the lid fits. These are designed for a microwave, but they work in an oven (including solar). I have also used them in a toaster oven. I haven't tried it but I bet with a little ingenuity you could use them with a camp fire.. Further more they are easy to clean.
The things I have made single serve include,
Chicken spaghetti
Lazy Enchiladas
Mini Meatloaf and Hashbrown casserole, just to name a few.
besides the obvious omelets and such.
It is a little bit of a learning curve to reduce a recipe to such small a quantity. And you will have a lot of waste unless, like me, you use a lot of powered staples like tomato powder instead of can tomato sauce. But that is a subject for another post.
Still it's a pretty cool idea for those of us happy singles that don't want to cook a full size casserole (even small) and have to eat it for a few days.
