<p style="margin: 0px;">As a former convenience store ("C-store") supervisor, I can tell you that it was a lot of fun and a job that I think would lend itself well to a van dweller's lifestyle and desire to disappear while also making some spending money.&nbsp; </p><p style="margin: 0px;">&nbsp;</p><p style="margin: 0px;">Here are some things I liked about working in a convenience store and reasons I plan to try and do it again...</p><p style="margin: 0px;">&nbsp;</p><p style="margin: 0px;">&nbsp;</p><p style="margin: 0px;">1)&nbsp; Older people can do this job.&nbsp; Most of us can count money back.&nbsp;&nbsp; We also show up for work and don't mind doing things young people don't want to.&nbsp; Willingness to work weekends is a real plus.</p><p style="margin: 0px;">&nbsp;</p><p style="margin: 0px;">2)&nbsp; It's a lot of fun.&nbsp; There is always some kind of excitement.&nbsp; No two shifts are the same.&nbsp; Time goes by quickly, too.&nbsp; Regulars can make it a lot of fun.</p><p style="margin: 0px;">&nbsp;</p><p style="margin: 0px;">3)&nbsp; It is pretty safe during the day.&nbsp;&nbsp; <u>In this area</u>, I have never heard of a c-store getting robbed while the sun was up.&nbsp; There are a few incidents at night but most thieves know that convenience stores hide their money.&nbsp; During the day, the robbers have plenty of other, more lucrative targets than the local mini mart.</p><p style="margin: 0px;">&nbsp;</p><p style="margin: 0px;">4)&nbsp;&nbsp;This kind of work is&nbsp;not too hard on your feet.&nbsp; At a convenience store, you are always moving around doing something.&nbsp; There's usually a mat to stand on near the register.</p><p style="margin: 0px;">&nbsp;</p><p style="margin: 0px;">5)&nbsp; You can see your car or van.&nbsp; At many convenience stores, your car is within sight while you are working.&nbsp; That is a plus.&nbsp; At this one, I plan to ride the bike or walk to work most of the time...&nbsp; </p><p style="margin: 0px;">&nbsp;</p><p style="margin: 0px;">&nbsp;</p><p style="margin: 0px;">I've got an interview scheduled for Monday afternoon. The job is only part time, 20 or so hours per week... That's about all that is needed.</p><p style="margin: 0px;">&nbsp;</p><p style="margin: 0px;">V.T.</p><p style="margin: 0px;">&nbsp;</p>

Vantrekker...thanks for your views on working in a convenience store. I had never considered that as a possibility for me, but you have given me a whole new perspective. If I need a part-time job in the future, I will definitely consider it. I especially like the idea of being able to see my vehicle while I work.

I moved the portions of this thread that were not related to the original topic to here:<div><br></div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: '.Helvetica NeueUI'; font-size: 15px; line-height: 19px; white-space: nowrap; -webkit-tap-highlight-color: rgba(26, 26, 26, 0.296875); -webkit-composition-fill-color: rgba(175, 192, 227, 0.230469); -webkit-composition-frame-color: rgba(77, 128, 180, 0.230469); ">https://vanlivingforum.com/post/Discussion-about-the-forum-5849639</span><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: '.Helvetica NeueUI'; font-size: 15px; line-height: 19px; white-space: nowrap; -webkit-tap-highlight-color: rgba(26, 26, 26, 0.296875); -webkit-composition-fill-color: rgba(175, 192, 227, 0.230469); -webkit-composition-frame-color: rgba(77, 128, 180, 0.230469); "><br></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: '.Helvetica NeueUI'; font-size: 15px; line-height: 19px; white-space: nowrap; -webkit-tap-highlight-color: rgba(26, 26, 26, 0.296875); -webkit-composition-fill-color: rgba(175, 192, 227, 0.230469); -webkit-composition-frame-color: rgba(77, 128, 180, 0.230469); "><br></span></div>

<p>Any problems, when you apply,&nbsp;about not having a home address?</p>

<p style="margin: 0px;">I use Dad's address (where the van is parked).&nbsp; Some places will let you use a mailing address for the tax forms (I'm going to see if I can do that).&nbsp;</p><p style="margin: 0px;">&nbsp;</p><p style="margin: 0px;">Should I ever need to, I also have friends that will let me send mail to their addresses even if I don't live there.&nbsp; For that reason, I'll probably always keep the residency in Iowa.&nbsp; Having roots and connections is not a bad thing!</p><p style="margin: 0px;"><br>Also, there are mail services that will let you use their street address.&nbsp; Most employers don't pay close attention - </p>
