Big vans suddenly are a hot item... who knew?

Commercial vans have long been the unsexy outlier in the automotive world. They are purpose-built for mostly blue-collar tasks and feature none of the lines that their sportier brand brothers and sisters share

The way the world works is changing. More efficient and more highly specialized work solutions are demanded not just by employers but also their employees and customers. Recent redesigns to these vans offer companies and families even more versatility than ever. The changes have caught the eye of fleet managers and small business owners with sales of commercial vans up 17.5 percent this year according to Good Car Bad Car.

]In the category, the Ford Transit takes the lead with 101,808 sold this year.

Ram ProMaster City sales are up 168 percent year-over-year.

Overall, Ford's market share among commercial vans in the United States held steady at 54% in the first-half of 2016, on par with the Blue Oval's achievement in the first-half of 2015

General Motors is the next-largest player. GM's trio of vans account for slightly more than one-fifth of all commercial van sales in America.

Chevy/GMC sales actually increased over the past year...
