I have a ford transit connect and my current address is in Waco Texas...I looked for an insurance quote and was told that I would have to insure my van as a commercial vehicle...cause it is a van...how to get around this...I can't afford that much for insurance...I live on social security for god's sake

How many companies and agents have you tried?

Join Escapees and take advantage of their insurance programs. They're dedicated to full-time RVers, which includes vans and anything else people live in that might have wheels on it.

In Montana the insurance rules aren't like that. I've had a couple 3/4 ton flatbed trucks, a one ton with a custom made box with a dump bed, and a county snow plow truck, none of which required commercial insurance. Montana is a long ways away, but I hope it helps.
