Has anyone tried this Coleman Portable Propane Cooker? I like the push-button match-less starter feature. Does this thing put out real flame, or is it a hot surface?
http://www.amazon.com/Coleman-20000...1&keywords=Coleman+Heat+'N+Serve+Portable

I already have the Coleman PowerPack 1-Burner stove (below link) which works well, but I wish it would have the push-button match-less starter.
http://www.amazon.com/Coleman-2000004125-PowerPack-1-Burner-Stove/dp/B0009PUS6M

I have one very similar to that, but in addition to the crock pot it also came with a skillet, bbq, and stove top which are all separate pieces that are locked on over the burner. I've looked for it on the internet doesn't appear they make it anymore. Been using it for 2 years and is still working great. edit again here is mine http://www.meijer.com/s/coleman-all...r_eCom_PLA_Sporting_Goods&kpid=2000003609

Hi HoboBerg,

Yeah, that is a very slick cooker! I think I saw that same unit while visiting a Camping World store. Question for ya: Is that unit easy to clean off the grease stains? I ask this because the Coleman grill/stove combo unit I have is nearly impossible to clean off the grease stains even after only a few usages. The last time I cooked ribs and sausages, the massive grease all drained down and baked onto the floor of the cooker, and I tried for over a half hour to remove the grease stains to no avail. The grease stains seem to have permanently found a home on the grill, haha! That's why I'd rather now use a cooker that requires a separate pot/pan so that the cooker unit isn't all messed up from the grease. It's so much easier to clean a pot/pan versus a grill, and worst case, just throw away the pot/pan if too dirty. I have a bit of phobia about grease, I just can't stand getting things greasy, must clean right away! I blame that phobia on my parents who used to work in the restaurant business, so cleaning grease was always a concern. I can't even stand having greasy fingers! I guess I'll never be a mechanic!

Casey

Hi Ann!

Thanks for your input! It's hard to find many reviews on that particular unit. I don't know whether I should give it a try to buy it, or forget about it. Hmmmm.

I don't really need it, just thought it might be more convenient versus the other Coleman burner I have.

Casey

Pain in the butt to clean. Ive actually quit using the the grill and skillet and just use a a nice non-stick pan much easier to clean. The crockpot is great for when company arrives and you can cook up a large batch of whatever.

HoboBerg,

Thanks! I will avoid! I don't need another pain-in-the-butt-to-clean cooker, haha! Not long ago, I had bought a $40 heavy duty frying pan from Target. I asked my GF which model she preferred, either the stainless steel model, or the non-stick model, both made from the same manufacturer and same price. She wanted the stainless steel model. Unfortunately, the stainless steel pan is a pain to clean because food sticks to it, even though I spray the pan with non-stick cooking oil. Now everytime I cook with this pan, I just want to beat my GF over the head with this stainless steel pan, cuz I should have gotten the non-stick version instead! By the way, this is a JOKE!! so no flaming puuuuuuleze! Haha!

Casey

Here is a worthless recommendation, unless you tailgate with a big crowd...
I have the WORST portable, but the BEST grill. When I bought a new grill at Academy and it took four people to load it up I knew I was in trouble, so I cut the legs off of my New Braunfels Smoker/ Grill https://bestoutdooritems.com/coleman-roadtrip-grill-lxe-vs-lxx/ and mounted it to a garden cart. Now I take it with me on almost every trip. In my travel trailer days I would load it in the pick-up with motorcycle ramps, now I just ramp it up into the toyhauler.
Low and slow is the only way to go!!! Last week we had hickory smoked roaster chickens for twenty with Big Bob Gibson's white BBQ sauce. Next year our season opener is against Arkansas and I've already found a butcher to get a suckling pig. Sooie!!!Yesterday on YouTube I came across an interesting video, as I myself picked up a new "toy", look, it might be useful. Good luck

On the run. Can't do low and slow. Somethings gaining on us.
