 I am having to find a van ASAP and am curious if anyone knows if a clean natural gas van is a bad idea? 1997 Ford Econoline E250 5.4L V8 SOHC 16V engine--with 65,500 miles on it. They are asking $3300. There apparently is a natural gas station near me currently, but how hard are these to find during travel? Any help would be appreciated!

Be very careful with this one Bethiebug!

If you're planning on travelling a lot, the availability of CNG equipped filling stations varies widely across the continent. Some vehicles are dual fuel for this reason.

Also, with a 1997 vehicle the tank may be at or past its' life expectancy and could be really costly to replace. It is perhaps why it's up for sale.

Love your name btw...signed another Beth!!

Actually if those miles have been mostly CNG (dual fuel conversion or CNG only? ) then that engine's barely broken in!

Propane (LPG) is **much** more readily available, basically everywhere. And changing from CNG to LPG should be cheap, maybe just changing jet orifice size?

Get professional advice, but me, I'd be excited!

Sorry, forgot to describe the link.

A relevant thread, shows more to it if factory CNG only
