Howdy folks

I was wondering if anyone has experience cleaning out the cavity, or open spaces above snd behind the wheel wells? I just pulled up and removed the old rubber mat from my old/new to me e350 and found quite a bit of mold under there. I've cleaned it up pretty dang good but live in the pnw so its taking a long time to dry. I figured it'd be a good time to clean out the space behind the wheel wells but can't decide how. It seems like and awfully difficult place to clean thoroughly and make sure all the water is dried up. I don't think that this area has drainage either but I could be wrong

So, any suggestions?
Thanks

I don't know about getting it clean, but drying it out might go faster if you used something like DampRid. It's either in a enclosed container or a hanging type bag. You have to check it often to see if it'd need changing.

Here's the link to an Amazon search page. Certainly you can find it at about any hardware or home improvement store. Check around for a good deal. If you do get it follow the directions closely. I forgot one container for a few months (years ago) and it ended up overflowing.

It has a big enough opening to use some bottle brushes on a long handle in it. You can also wrap a microfiber wash cloth about a long bottle brush for a drying cloth. Micro fiber is great for soaking up excess moisture. Then leave it open for a few days to dry it out. Spray in some anti corrosion chemical, not too heavy of a coat. Then seal it up.

I throw dessicant packets into such areas. So far no mold, but I avoid cooking and bathing in the van.   -crofter
