Warning: I am seriously challenged technology-wise.

I have the G6 phone.  Someday, the battery will need to be replaced, but WHERE?
Amazon sells batteries,  but Motorola warns that doing it yourself will void the warranty.  The nearest store is in Seattle, 2 hrs away.

So, what's the solution?

Your cellphone carrier store can change your battery.
You may have to send your phone out, if there is no store close to you.
Call and ask.

That's just it : there IS no local Motorola store.

Ship it out and wait for it to come back, probably a week without a phone. I guess I'd better wait until after my eye surgery...

Is the battery not covered under warranty?

You are not looking for a Motorola store. You are looking for AT&T, Verizon, US Cellular, or whatever is the carrier to which you pay your cellphone bill. They sold you the phone when you signed up, and they can change the battery at the nearest place where they sell their phones and services.
