<div><br></div><div>This will be my choice. I hope because its hard to find one for the deaf that dosen't cost me my arm and both my legs. I still have to email them about the silence thing. I have to make sure I can shut it off altogether. No sense in scaring the wee jees out of the neighbors....you know what I mean? I don't know if I need the smoke part but I can always shut it off if I'm cooking something. I&nbsp;believe&nbsp;this can be run on batteries but it only says back up so I have to be asking them that too. Unless somebody here knows?</div><a href="http://www.hearworldusa.com/product...Alarm-with-Battery-Backup-&-SL177-Strobe.html" target="_blank">http://www.hearworldusa.com/product...Alarm-with-Battery-Backup-&-SL177-Strobe.html</a>

Our CO detector is run off 4 aa's and works well, has a digital display giving parts per million of CO so I can tell at any time if one of our appliances is generating anything at all. It was about $30 I believe.<div><br></div><div>&nbsp;I realize it isn't a strobe model, but I am thinking that it wouldn't be too terribly difficult to add a strobe DIY style. Not necessarily built into that unit, rather a separate battery run strobe that was in the best place to wake you up and was signaled by the electric current used in the audible alarm. &nbsp; There may even be something like that available already. Who knows, maybe even can trigger from the audible alarm noise?</div>

The original CO detector in my RV was long dead but still draining the&nbsp; 12v system, and the AA powered one just expired.&nbsp; (They are good for 7 years.)&nbsp; I'm going to use another AA powered one as a replacement -- there seems to be two brands available.&nbsp; ($15-$25)<br><br><br>

You know Im starting to think I may not be able to use &nbsp;one. Now what I may do is get a regular one and see if maybe if I can hear it. Im not totally deaf you know so maybe I can hear it at . I'll buy it locally &nbsp;so I can return it if&nbsp;necessary.&nbsp; I may be able to use the really loud ones.<div>Edit ...As I was still looking on Amazon look what I found!!!&nbsp;EXPENSIVE but it may work.&nbsp;</div><div>&nbsp;<a href="http://www.amazon.com/Safeawake-Vib...=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1318158983&amp;sr=8-5" target="_blank">http://www.amazon.com/Safeawake-Vib...=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1318158983&amp;sr=8-5</a></div><div><br></div><div>This also looks good although it says its only for fire.</div><div><a href="http://www.marilynelectronics.com/L...e-Alarm-and-Clock-HC-LIFETO-p/hc-lifetone.htm" target="_blank">http://www.marilynelectronics.com/L...e-Alarm-and-Clock-HC-LIFETO-p/hc-lifetone.htm</a></div><div><br></div>
