I encountered a "Drug and Currency Checkpoit Ahead" sign on I70 in Kansas, when I was in my 18 wheeler. Kept going down the road and saw nothing. Unlike DUI checkpoints it's highly unconstitutional to do drug and currency checkpoints. Found a post on Reddit, on how Kansas gets around it. Quite sly!  They have unmarked cars looking for car "tossing" things from the car, or exiting the hwy and making an illegal u turn, this giving them a legal reason to pull you over.

So If you are bringing some goodies back from Colorado and see that sign, don't stop or make any crazy u turns.

ITS A TRAP! DONT DO IT! [emoji12]

They have one outside of Rolla MO.  ( I 44 ) The checkpoint is at the next off ramp, just out if sight over the rise.  Anyone pulling over is searched.  They cannot  put up a checkpoint on a federal interstate.

The money to pay for the border patrols of the States around Colorado comes from the taxes being collected from pot sales here.

I find it hard to believe that Colorado would give ANY of the $$$ from pot taxes to other states... since those politicians
that were behind legalization are making BIG political capital out of generating so much tax income to the state.

but I was wrong once.. .I think.. I could be again. :)

You might just be mistaken.

It's actually written into the law that some of the monies collected go to the neighboring states to protect their boarders.

They proposed a law, best I could find is it didn't pass...

You can take the long way to the pnw. Arizona is the only state that accepts out of state medical mj cards so your red card is valid down there. Cali might be the easiest state to get a medical referral in, in LA you can find a dr to give you the recommendation no questions asked for 30 bucks, and you don't even need to be a CA resident. Then OR, and WA are completely legal and its soon to be legal in Canada.

There is nothing in the actual works here in Canada & don't be fooled by the rumours. It is still completely illegal here without a medical situation. & at this point Canada would NOT recognize your US medical card.

Play safe!!

One of many things I appreciate about living here. Friends offer each other weed all the time, and from this I learned 1) It doesn't appeal to me recreationally, 2) edibles are a no-go for me, and 3) different strains have VASTLY different effects.

After the accident I began having panic attacks lasting as long as half a day of sheer terror multiple days in a a row, and an entire week straight of pulling out all the stops to get psychiatric help for myself got nowhere. So I called a friend and resorted to self-medicating with weed, which I soon discovered both my PCP and my therapist were supportive of. What a relief to find that people can treat it like any other medication! I now keep a vape pen in my backpack, and only once a week or so take half a lungful as needed to bring almost immediate relief.

It's still illegal to use it in public, or drive under its influence. But if you want to have the option to use it without looking over your shoulder then come on over, we're cool with it. :)

I said soon not currently.  Canada's health minister announced that they are going to legalize recreational pot next spring.  It's all over the mainstream news.

The plan is to bring forward a bill...probably...

It takes a long time from a proposed bill to a law change...as in years.

Like I said before...play safe!!!!!

I do not trust any State or Country to Honor a Medical Card from somewhere else .

Treat it like the 60's , and do not get caught .

The Federal Government has kept it against the Law regardless of State Law .

Few years back , the Federal Government closed a bunch of Pot Clubs in California . One day in Biz , next day shut down .

Now they are dropping matters.

Jimindenver said it way back...leave it at home. I agree with that after this discussion ...
At my age it ain't worth it... Sometimes it seems things were easier. At least for some of us when it was illegal

I've decided that when I venture outside of CO, I'll leave it home.

Arizona comes up for vote on rec use this year...if we get enough signatures.
I certainly would not want to cross state lines with any weed. Living as we do, mostly on fed land, even a medical card is no help.

The VA is doing a survey and studies that IF all goes well, they will be able to prescribe cannabis. We expect to see some results from that in the next year, according to my doctor, who is all for it.
I use it for appetite, sleep, and pain...plus, I like a mellow buzz sometimes.

The VA already does provide cannabis to some patients.   The fourth floor of the Mather VA in Rancho Cordova has a pot smoking lounge according to a friend of mine who works maintenance there.  Not widely known.

Some folks have good results with oils. Using them in a vape pen elimates odor problems.
I prefer the taste of bud.

I wanted to respond to this.

I can appreciate the legality, especially for pain believe me. The thing is I hate the smell and if any one thinks I don't know what they are vaping, they are kidding themselves. Not just the actual vape either, it clings to their clothes and cars like cigarette smoke. There may be oils that are scentless but there are many that are not.
