I just put a second battery in my 2001 Ford E 150 Van ....The last step is tying the solenoid into a switched 12 volt circuit ...I removed the relay/fuse panel box cover and can't identify a switched circuit ...

Does anyone have a photo or drawing of theres...where else can I tie into ???

HELP !!!

Does your van have the rectangular brake controller socket under the dash?

If so, it will have a 12v circuit that is powered on only when the ignition switch is ON.

warning on the Ford brake controller plug. there are 2 types(typical Ford). one of those you cannot tap the hot wire. know what you are doing. highdesertranger

I wonder what makes one of them accessible and the other not?

On my 2009 E-250, the 12v pin provides power to the trailer brake controller (if installed) when the ignition is turned on.

I ran across it last year while installing a brake controller on a 2003 F-250. I can't remember the details but there was a big warning included with the controller. if I recall correctly they said that there was 2 separate types of harnesses. one design was fine to use the hot wire, the other design was a big no, no. highdesertranger

the answer turned out to be " get away from the engine compartment relay box and find the fuse panel under the dash "
Thank you everyone :)
