Hi everyone, I just joined. I have been looking at alternative lifestyle choices including earth-ship houses, wilderness survival, living on land without zoning / building codes, and this.

I have started to sell off my material items and plan for a more free and rich life. I do not want to be bound by societal norms. So i'm starting this journey and wanted to say hello to all the free thinkers.

Hi Easylife - I've been doing similar research for the last year. So-called "tiny homes" are ridiculously priced. For the same price I can have a new high-roof van. Yurts are far less expensive and fit with my aesthetic. I'd choose one of them on a cheap piece of zoning-free wooded property, except that I want to travel, so the vandwelling idea is winning out at the moment.

I also checked into tons of alternative lifestyle living. It is so interesting to see what is out there and how you can make something work personally for you. Go for it. Making life easy and fun to fit you is the way to go!

Welcome to the forum, Easylife . Here are a lot of good people here, if you have any questions just find the right area and ask away . If you post in the wrong place you’ll get HDRed ? just kidding H .good luck on making your decision

Hi TravelAround,

I looked into tiny homes too. I found that the commercial product was way over priced as well and settled on building my own similar to what LaMar Alexander has done, if I went that route. He has an interesting youtube channel 'solarcabin'.

I think they both that lifestyle and this one of course have their advantages and disadvantages. Ideally I would like to be able to find some cheap ground to park on and have the best of both worlds.

I've come to the same conclusion. I'm getting the van by springtime, and will travel for a while. Eventually I'll probably purchase land to park on. I might even purchase one property in the south and one in the north so I can snowbird between them. But for now, there's the call of the open road, and I'm headed that direction.
