LOL Truck bed campers have come a long way, here in Texas they are a good option for many because a higher than average percent of the population already have trucks I've seen some truckbed trailers out buy the lake that are decked out to the point of being comical.

 Now if I end up not getting the van I want I could see myself in something like this pictured Below
Even if I had to get a standard truck camper and build it out myself.

Here's your rig, only $58k in OR, BYOTruck to haul it in. Very nice though, you won't even know you are camping. A friend had a fifth wheel set up like this one, they were feelin no pain til everyone got poison oak. Blame it on the dog.

One thing about those pickup bed trailers, unless changed out, the trailer's axle still has the differential, and that can wear out, if not maintained with gear oil.

Unnecessary weight to carry around,too.
