They dropped the price again. Normally it is $220 or more, I just noticed the new price of $170. Click me for Amazon link

I got mine a few months back and love it! It will run on the 1# cans or buy a hose and connect it to a larger propane tank.

Yeah I got one of these. Works great. The oven will hold a constant 400 degrees no problem.

I have one too, works great. much better than the old coleman folding oven. the only thing one must be aware of is they do not self regulate like a house oven. you must keep an eye on the temp. with a little practice you can bake anything you can in a house oven. I have roasted chicken, made meatloaf. baked pies, cookies, biscuits, and bread. highdesertranger

hmmm this could open possibilities....i could go for some baked food on occassion.

this is a nice looking unit and the size is almost perfect for my rig just wondering how it would fair if it was in an enclosed area do the sides and back get real hot??? thanks for the tip

^^^ what my fellow Kurbmaster said!^^^

You do have to leave some room from the sides (and back) as they do get pretty hot. I would recommend NOT mounting the thing inside, so it can easily be brought outside for any long cooking sessions. I used an old leather belt, but into two pieces, and used the handles on the oven to mount the oven in place. When ever I want to bring it outside on the picnic table, it is two screws away.

Hi VT,

I've read either here or your blog that you used a cast iron bean pot for awhile. Even did some baking in it which is what I was thinking I'd use. What made you decide to go this route. I know that you like it. Is it just that it's easier? It's worth the additional space it takes up for you?

Thanks!

I still have the bean pot, and while you can bake just about anything in it, it is much more difficult than a proper oven. And the space is not actually wasted as I was using the same amount of space for a 2 burner stove (which this replaces) on top of a counter. The oven, wen not in use, is a great storage box for non-solid items (bread, chips, etc... not pots and pans as it will break the glass).

So a net wash on the space and much easier to use.

That was a very keen observation, and yes it was, it did get sold at the last RTR to a neighbor that just fell in love with it, did not want to break his heart. I pick em up used sometimes this one was like new. I don't really bake much.

I don't either although I do love roasted veggies in the winter. My favorites are roasted broccoli or brussel sprouts with some balsamic vinegar, oil, garlic, S&P. I can eat a whole head of broccoli this way right out of the oven. I usually do 2-3 heads at a time just to have some for leftovers. Kale chips? I'd rather have separated brussel sprout leaves crisped up in the above vinaigrette. Yum! I know-I'm weird.

Some cinnamon rolls are good every once in a while too!

I like to roast those too! Leeks as well... sure beats Mom's steamed or boiled veggies!!!!

I've been looking at those, and I want one[emoji5]️ but don't have the room with the bike in the van [emoji30]
I'll have to decide soon if it's worth keeping my beloved bike [emoji467]

One of these will do the job and you'll be able to keep the bike!

that backpack oven is like a coleman folding oven. if the conditions are right they work ok. they will not work with any stove that is attach to a fuel bottle you must use a remote fuel tank. there is a thread on the folding ovens somewhere on the forum. they work ok under controlled conditions. any kind breeze or wind and they are very hard to regulate the temp. I know this because I have both a camp chef and a folding oven, I never use the folding oven anymore. highdesertranger

This thread is a month old, but thought better here than starting another thread.

I want to frame this stove inside the van and am looking for solutions for the heat that would be radiated from oven use. Would a reflective heat barrier work in this case? Would 1/4 inch space between the oven wall and the heat barrier be enough? What about 1/2 inch? Looking for real world experience with either the stove radiating the heat or a good reflective heat barrier. There would be a wood frame behind the heat barrier. Thnx!

I have no idea about the mounting question but that is one cool stove.
