Wondering if I would ever step my toe in that state again! Be well worth a visit!

A day or so before the museum I checked out a few oddities.

This was a giant ball of string in Lincoln, IL complete with cat underneath it doing its best to destroy it.

Also in Lincoln was a phone booth on the roof of a building:

Down the road aways in Atlanta, IL was a smiley face water tower and a giant man with a hotdog

Somehow, this just sounds wrong? :p

Yes but then there's the picture.
When I saw that pic I thought..
"Looks like Paul Bunyan without the beard "
then I saw the giant wiener and thought..
"Babe ! is that you??? , OH nooooooooo Babe !" :dodgy:

I wonder if Mae West's house truck was for traveling, or just a 'location trailer' while making movies?

The plaque said it was for location and was also used to go back and forth from her home or hotel to the studio.

Great pictures Cammalu, thanks for sharing. All the best to ya

I'm almost done for the day after much running around. The second place I visited I'd thought I'd post first because it's a short stop.

I'm in Ft Wayne, IN and today visited the roadside attraction of Johnny Appleseed's grave [emoji15].

First stop was in Auburn, IN to the National Auto and Truck Museum.

I had a lot of favorites but the one I really wanted to see was the Futurliner.

I had read about this beast in the past and always wanted to see it.

The General Lee was on display:

It was filled with dings and scratches. Must have taken this one for a hell of a ride.

For you motorcycles nuts there were a couple:

There are actually quite a few "General Lee's"--they went through them like crazy. Most of them got completely trashed, but a few survived in fairly good shape. There's one at the Dukes of Hazzard Museum (I kid you not) in Nashville.
