Yeah, I'm thinking maybe not a pop-up after all. Yet again we're gonna have winds of 40mph tomorrow. Yay.
SO! Maybe at least a camping trailer that's hard walled and always ready to go.

Not sure I really want a full RV. I would like to unhitch and take the driving vehicle by itself for errands around town and stuff, without having to haul the whole "house" around all the time.
If I can afford a decent truck, maybe a 5th wheel, but I get the feeling they're much heavier than a bumper-pull kind. My budget on both is limited... I think I could afford $5,000 for truck and $5,000 for trailer, but no more. I was looking at Chevy Trailblazers with V8 engines (I figure that could definitely tow stuff) on Ebay and there was maybe half a dozen for under $5,000 and they all needed repairs which would end up costing more.

Oiy, I hate being poor >_< LOL

A fifth wheel is a very good way to go BUT.... unless you know someone that can put in the tow hitch or you get a truck set up for it, it is going to cost a good chunk of change. Factor in the inside brake controller too. price and kind varies.
You are probably like many of us here, we save and try to use cash for everthing and it does take a while. Be patent and give yourself a break. I tend to be impulsive and don't always think things thru, which may suprise members here that have got to know me online . Take your time and you may not make as many mistakes.
Craigslist has lots of smaller used trailers. Can be lots of problems with old ones though but you may find something ready to go.
Dawn, refer back to #16 about wheel base and find out what the trailblazer has so you know how long of a trailer will be safe. Its not all about the weight.
Dragonfly

Had to raise my eyebrows a bit- I have less than $3.5k in both my bus and camper- COMBINED. some of us would be thrilled with a $10k budget. Just sayin...

A used travel trailer that needs a little work won't break you with even a modest job.

If I can get a whole set for under 3k, that would be great!

Reminder... right now I'm just making plans and thinking things through. Unless something drastic happens sooner, I don't plan to DO anything for a good 5 years yet. First I'd like to be out of $17,000 debt (planning on 28 months for that), and then save up cash for the new 'house'.

Nobody panic about me going out and buying the first rig I see LOL

It's possible, but there might be a little extra work involved.

Wow that really took me back VD, and I even had to blog about it. There are lots of hard ladders to climb when getting out of debt, but better to buckle up and do them now than later. The payoff is worth it and I wish you all the luck in this endeavor.
