Brushy Creek State Park Iowa

I'm working about 30 miles from here staying in my van. I had to stay the weekend so thought I'd check this place out.<br>This has got to be one of Iowa's best kept secrets. This is an all purpose park with hitching rails for horses, docks for boats, hundreds of campsites and miles of trails. <br>It lies on either side of the De moine River and is, all toll, 6500 acres. The camp ground where I'm at only had 4 campers all weekend. Basic sites with no electric are $9; sites with electric are $14; full hookups are $19. Nice shower houses and plenty of cover. I spent the afternoon birding and walking trails. This is beautiful country this time of year; just waking up from a long snore.<br>So anyone looking for a change for a spell; this would definitely be nice until tourist season hits full tilt end of May.<br>Oh, also climbed on top of the ol' girl and and re-caulked the vent that was leaking during a hard rain this week.<br><br>happy trails,<br>gus<br><br>

I may even be a bit earlier but&nbsp;should be there by 1:00.</p><p style="margin: 0px;">&nbsp;</p><p style="margin: 0px;">Are you going with&nbsp;the electric option?&nbsp; I could run off solar and the generator, too, but for only $5/ day difference, that's pretty reasonable.&nbsp; With the clouds this week the solar power is pretty feeble.&nbsp; The generator is better used&nbsp;for boondocking - gas is expensive.&nbsp; It's a better deal just to buy the power.</p><p style="margin: 0px;">&nbsp;</p><p style="margin: 0px;">Gotta run and get back to work.&nbsp; I'm adding some little cosmetic fixes and doing some cleaning...&nbsp; It's not too often anybody looks inside and the van is a pit right now.&nbsp; I guess that habit didn't change from the old days of the mobile home.</p><p style="margin: 0px;">&nbsp;</p><p style="margin: 0px;">Unfortuantely, that used Alphasmart Dana isn't going to make the trip.&nbsp; I got a lemon and am trying to return it but haven't heard back from the seller.&nbsp; <img src="/images/boards/smilies/frown.gif" border="0" align="absmiddle"></p><p style="margin: 0px;">&nbsp;</p><p style="margin: 0px;">It should be a fun weekend.&nbsp; See you then!&nbsp; </p><p style="margin: 0px;">&nbsp;</p><p style="margin: 0px;">V.T.</p>

Electric &amp; shower are the only reasons I go to a park. I don't have solar or a en set yet.<br>If I could I'd love to see your solar set up.<br>

All tougue in cheek Rae. It seems we all have ducks; most assuradly we'd all like to shoot them or say to h__l with them. But alas; if we truly want, and are working toward&nbsp;freedom, there are ducks that need to be lined up first.<br><br>Those DARN ducks!!
