Ha ha Tara! I'm sure Bob is happy and relieved he passed inspection, lol! Just kidding. But yes, I suppose those kind of things might come to mind in the beginning of a new adventure.

Your rig sounds really nice and secure. I find it very interesting hearing about the different kinds of RV's boon dockers have and love.

Thanks for your response Tara,

And Bob, thanks for the invite. Might take you up on that sometime. It sounds beautiful up there...and also a thanks for the info on the pump. I saved the link for future reference because I can see that could be a real lifesaver at some point to a serious need. Is there a creek or stream at our camp site? I really like to be close to streams and creeks if their clean.

Scarlett

I was raised in the country and spent endless night camping far from people.

I can tell you the the only critter that is going to cause you pain or upset has 2 legs and doesnt live in the woods. Maybe lay off the horror movies. Giant Rabid squirrel attacks are very low. The farther you get from people the safer you will be.

Maaybe you need to go to a rainbow family gathering for a few weeks.

Welcome Home!

Hey Tara... Hey Bob... Hey Scarlet... etc...

I have a quick question for ParadiseParrot. What is a "rainbow family gathering"?

Thanks,
Bodhi

Hey Bodhi, I was wondering the same thing, and looked it up. It seems like a great big modern day hippie Woodstock, peace gathering and gigantic group hug. Never been to one, maybe Paradise can fill us in on why this might cure the jitters. Maybe getting hugged a lot???

http://www.rainbowgatherings.org/ph...mp;groupId=&groupUrl=&xgi=&page=2

Hi all, not a woman but I want to pass a couple things on to you who are. One thing my elderly Mom-in-law has always done in her condo in SoCal is to bring home a pair of large men's shoes from the thrift shop she volunteers at and leave them outside her door on the porch...that way it appears a man lives there and makes her feel better about any bad chappies in the area...I have known women RVers who do the same....or if they don't have a dog, they leave a dog dish of water outside so it looks like they do...lol.

Another thing several solo women vandwellers have done, as well as several male motorcylists that I know have done, especially on trips across places like Siberia, etc. is to have a "SPOT" GPS device with friends or family as contacts for it. I have been one of the contacts for a couple of the women vandwellers I know and have the phone numbers of their family in case they have any trouble...sickness, accidents, etc.

I think you can just google it to find out the particulars.

Also want to second that I am amazed at how many cool, courageous and inspiring women I know who are on the trail alone....good for you all!

Peace,
Bri

I agree with @bk2valve's comments around safety practices, tho I don't do the show or bowl of water thing, I don't like to lie. My iPhone has GPS, so every night I text my location to my twin sister Beth, so she knows exactly where I am at night.
It also has a 'find friends' feature, so they can launch and app and see where my phone(and I) are whenever they want, and that's also a really great safety feature!

If I'm planning on being somewhere, I may not have cell reception, then I let her know that too, where that is (as best as I can determine), who I know will be around me and any contact information, names, etc I have for them and when I'll FOR SURE be back in range and let her know I'm safe.

Her and I have been each other's 'buddy's forever, whenever she goes somewhere 'new' or out with a strange man or something, she does the same thing. So far minus a few close calls, we've never had to send the police out looking for each other, I hope that trend continues.

But I don't think I know any women that DON'T do something like this, it's just second nature for us anymore it seems. We've been inundated socially with rape fears, bad men, etc, etc, etc for so long that safety is sort of second nature any more.

Tho truth be told, I'd rather go out away from cell reception with a buddy, and not alone.
